Hello everybody. I have a site and I am currently using 50 mbs of bandwith! Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do to get my bandwith usage down? Thanks

I am crazy, Christian, and I like HTML. Its a dangerous combination.

What are the units? 50 Megabits per second? If so, you need some banner ads. :> 50 Megabytes per month? It takes about 667 Megabytes per day to hit the 20 Gigabyte limit, if I've got it straight.

Anyway, if you're talking about silentwhisper.com, I noticed a couple things. The large lightning image is about 70 kilobytes, which is a little big, but not extraordinary. If it gets re-sent frequently, it could add up. Making it smaller or compressing it more would reduce bandwidth.

Also, there seems to be some sort of auto-update thing going on the site. If that causes the entire page to re-send frequently, it could add up. Turning that off, or making it less often could reduce bandwidth.

I'm also making the assumption that we're talking about silent whisper... let us know if there are other sites we should look at.

Definitely optimize your main graphic... I ran it through Fireworks and got a jpg that was 30k in size, a significant reduction.

Next, go to your webpanel and create a stats user account (if you don't have one yet). Checking your stats will allow you to see what files are being accessed most frequently, thus allowing you narrow down what you need to pare down.

How is your conuery usage?... since you're using a blogger it would stand to reason that it should be off the charts too if you're getting that much traffic.
