Figuring out my storage when it goes over 300GB?

Can anyone tell me how do figure out my storage used? Apparently there is a glitch in the panel and it doesn't give readings any more since I hit 300GB.

If it's just standard disk storage, you can shell into your home directory and type:
du -sm .

That'll show you Disk Usage in Single line format in Megabytes of your current directory and all its contents.

Do I make an entirely new shell account, or edit my current username?

No, that user you have with all the space can have Shell access so you can log in and use the command line. No need to even edit your current username.

In the panel under "Users>Manage Users" you need to edit your user to enable shell access under "User Account Type".

What are 50DISK50, 3DOM50, and 1IP1DOM50?
They're Dreamhost coupons!

that's what I thought, thanks. What about the space that's in there for maximum storage(when I am editing the username to shell)? I don't do anything with it, correct?(it is default to 0, but does 0=unlimited?) I don't wanna wipe my files out, that's why I'm asking lol yeah I am clueless, I know.

Finally figured it out. OK, one more question about the results...

What is the ./.snapshot folder? Does it count against my storage? If so, I have no idea how to find it with FTP to delete it. Also if it counts against storage, how do I get it to stop filling itself up? I have no idea what's in there, or how it got there.

No, don't worry. The snapshot folder contains hourly, bi-hourly, weekly, bi-weekly, and (I think) a monthly backup of you data. If you cd into the .snapshot directory (it exists in all of your folders) you can directly access your backups and restore accidentally deleted files. It doesn't count towards you total.
