Midnight mysql server seems to be down

All my php+mysql based sites are down because 'midnight', my database server, seems to be failing. Login attempts lead to error #2013 - "Lost connection to MySQL server during query".
This has been reported to the support team two hours ago, but up to the moment no answer has been received, and dreahoststatus shows no issues related to this server.
As they say, OMG! ...people are DYING!
