FTP Access Confusion

Hi there everyone

I've had a number of previous hosts and been with Dreamhost for nearly a year but have only just needed to create a new FTP user. Previously I've had root access and been able to give users access to a particular folder that is available from the website. When ever this has been done it has always appeared in my FTP area too, but Dreamhost doesn't seem to allow it.

All I want to do is give someone access to only one directory within the website and also within the FTP area that I can see when I log in, can I do it and if so how?

Thanks in advance guys

Anthony

UNIX permissions by default don't let you wander other users' directories, but there are a couple of things you can do:
Set up groups so you can share a directory via SFTP: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/KB_/_Account_Control_Panel_/_Users_::_Groups

Just give them their own directory on your site, but you won't have free access to it: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/KB_/_Account_Control_Panel_/_Domains_::_Remap_Sub-Dir
