Enable uploads for MediaWiki. Custom php.ini?

Do I have to go the (unsupported) route of setting up a custom php.ini in order to enable uploads in my MediaWikis?

Only if you want to upload stuff bigger than 7 megs. Why do you ask?

I have uploads enabled on my mediawiki installation. Have you read http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Configuring_file_uploads?

Thanks. I found my problem: I dont typically log in to my Wiki and noticing 'upload' was missing, I incorrectly assumed it was a config issue. duh.
