Hi,
I just signed up for hosting through dreamhost, and took advantage of the free domain registration. Its over a week later, and my domain still doesn't resolve, nor does it appear that i'm the owner when I do a whois (the name is brainvomit.com). Any ideas as to why this is taking so long?

hey shawn,
It looks like there was a problem when registering your domain.. something failed somewhere! It looks like an email was sent to you saying it failed with a "Fatal Server Error".
It's a good thing you posted here!
I've resubmitted the registration now and it should go through within the next 15 minutes. If it's not up and working by tomorrow, please contact support so we can see what's up!
