it happens since i moved to dreamhost.. the number of spam emails is about 7x greater than before. with my previous host, i was under cPanel, and they had a very neat antispam filter. Any chance of having something similar here? i care about that e-mail address and don't want to change it

Spam filtering is not so hot here. You have a few choices:
1) Your own SpamAssassin installation (difficult)

2) Double-pass spam filtering (easier)

3) Tighten up your SpamAssassin settings (easiest)

Personally, I tried spam assassin and had okay results, but I decided to centralize my various email addresses using gmail (it can check other email accounts for you), and its spam handling is very good.
