install php5-please help

Hello,

I need to install a custom php5 as I have to compile in freetds. I went through the script in the wiki and it didn't seem to work then I went through the alternate scripts and they don't seem to work either. Both seem to want to put the cgi stuff in my domain directory /home/blackwaterdev/mysite.com/ but it isn't there after the install. I then add the lines requested to my .htaccess file and apache doesn't know what to do with it so it tries to download. This is exactly how my .htaccess file looks:

AddHandler php5 .php
Action php5 /cgi-bin/php.cgi

What am I doing wrong as I need to get this site up today?
