Hi,
I have been searching the help files but have been unable to find any information on how I can turn off directory listing for certain websites I host with dreamhost, so if a user enters the wrong folder (that doesn't have a index.html file in) a 404 error (or similar) is shown not a list of the files in that directory.

That would be the method I recommend going with anyways.
You could also just throw in a blank "index.html" file into any directory you don't want to show up, which would just show users a blank page.

I personally use an index page with a redirect that throws the user back to the main location of my domain.
