I just opened a new account a few days ago to take advantage of the rewards program. I signed up someone else and have the credit pending in my account. I really want to launch a new web site at this host, do I really have to wait 97 days to use the reward credit on my account?

Yes. You do not get the credit until the money back guarantee of the account that signed up under you is over.
