Constant .htaccess problems :-( Help anyone?

Hello.
There are constant .htaccess problems i.e. not working as expected :-(
I contacted support to ask turning on RewriteLog at least on Archibald machine, and they rejected request stating that adding that feature is not possible on shared host plans.
