Newbie question: address for your secure/SSL

Hi everyone, I'm trying to install a shopping cart on my website and I've never tried this kind of thing before. Do I need to pay for a Unique IP in order to set up the SSL/HTTPS?

I'm really not sure what I'm doing but I'm trying to follow the faq's and little bits and pieces i've read. I'm assuming if I purchase the unique IP from dreamhost then I can configure the SSL and get my store going. Correct?

Any help would be appreciated!

Here's the wiki article on secure servers:

But the short answer is "yes," you'll need a unique IP address and the SSL certificate.
