DNS A record

Hi there. I pointed my DNS A record to another IP and that works....half the time. Because Dreamhost is on a round robin DNS, the non-editable A record is being served about half the time.

I'm not a DNS guru (in fact, more like a n00b). Is there a way to change the non-editable A record? Or is there something else I need to do to get the A record working properly all the time using custom DNS?

The reason for the change is because I moved the site to a dedicated server, but I don't want to change my client's email, so that will stay with Dreamhost. All I want is for the site to be actually served by the other server.

In case anyone else runs across this issue, I asked support. All I had to do was kill the hosting on the manage domains tab of the panel. Make sure you kill the hosting by clicking the "X" under the hosting column (where it says "Fully" and the username) and not the "X" by the url.
