FTP Issues/Site Updates Not Working

Hi. I was making some site updates yesterday and loaded them via ftp to the server (successfully), checked the source code and they looked fine. I went to the domain and the changes are not appearing, I viewed the page source, it appears to be the old version. I cleared the cache and loaded a test page to the server (again, successfully). That page doesn't show up on the website at all, I get a 404 error. I waited until today to check it again, on my work computer. The files are on the server and they look fine, but neither the updated file nor the test page are showing up on my website. Any suggestions?

One more thing-- all the permissions are set correctly, I update this one page every few weeks and never have had a problem before.
