phpMYadmin not working!?

Hello,
I just created my account with dreamhost yesterday and have had alot of problems creating a database. whenever I try to access my newly created database through phpmyadmin i get the following error:

What is going on here? it seems like it should be so simple yet all the databases I have created have led to the same problem.
