Webcalendar reminders problem

I was wondering if anyone has e-mail reminders set up correctly for Webcalendar, and if so how did you accomplish this?
I have Webcalendar up and running great, however when I try to run send_reminders.php I get a error of "cannot find settings.php". I believe I have the /includes/ directory correctly mapped.
The only way I can get it to work is if I move the settings.php file to the same directory as send_reminders.php, but I don't think this will work in the long run.
