Temporary MySQL Database?

I am planning on tinkering with Movable Type, and I'd like to create a temporary MySQL database to do so. If I create such a database, does the "delete" option on the MySQL control panel permanently remove the database from the server?

My goal is to avoid permanently claiming a particular database name (since our database names must be unique).

It should, yes. Another way to avoid using a name someone else might want is to pick something random. How about calling your database "eithie8p"?

How about database user names? If I create a unique username (say "myUserName"), and I later delete it, does that name become available again? Or is it "once used, always used"?
