Domain Redirection

Hey, I signed up for the 'free' service from dreamhost, I need my domain to redirect to another location. I went in and made the necessary changes to the required url, but it is not pointing to that. Instead it goes to a generic 'under construction' page.
I just signed up today, a few hours ago. How long does it take for it to go into effect?
