I normally reccomend you do exactly as the message tells you, though I've never head what exactly causes this problem. So ya, put a ticket into support saying your site is down, with the bad httpd conf.

I've had a ticket in queue for over 2 hours. I've been using Dreamhost for over 3 years and I've never had this many problems with an account, but now I'm looking like a fool for recommending Dreamhost to my client. My level of confidence in Dreamhost has greatly declined over the past 4 weeks.

Anyone know a good alternative to Dreamhost?

DreamHost has a great service, and I recommend staying put. I've had the same error message as you, and it really is a temporary issue. As long as you have a support ticket lodged it should be fixed soon.

Bear in mind that Monday Night Football is on, and so response times may be substantially increased - especially if Dallas is getting spanked.

Sorry but I'm a novice and perhaps I've misunderstood. Why would Monday night football cause a problem with response times?

Sorry, Hope. I was just trying to be funny. I was suggesting (probably quite unfairly) that support requests weren't be answered because there is a live football game on TV at the moment. Since DreamHost are in Los Angeles, they probably don't care who wins this particular game anyway. wink

Ah! Okay... thanks.
