How do I set up custom dns

Hi

I'm hosted here at dreamhost. Unfortunately my package doesn't include custom dns.

I want to use a second domain on dreamhost - I need to be able to use custom dns.

I can do that using the dns-settings with my registrar - How do I have to set up the a-record to have the mydomain.com work with the hosting account I've got at dreamhost.

I know I can't just point to the ip since I haven't got a unique IP.

But how do I do it ?

Don't tell me to use the dreamhost nameservers - becuase then I won't be able to set up subdomains the way I want to.
