htaccess problems

I've had a couple of conversations with Mike from DH, and he's tried to be helpful unfortunately I've been having some serious trouble with apache today. First off I know nothing about Apache and basically it's causing havok with my htaccess. Something's fishy since sometimes it works other times it's down. And that's just today. When I actually get rid of any need for htaccess everything works fine.
I'm on Kroner, is anyone else having these problems today, it literally started this morning.
