Admin area

Tried to upload a file in the Admin area but do not receive a confirmation that file was uploaded. Upon reviewing the server files, I note that the file did not upload. I have since ftp'd the file to the appropriate folder on the server and see that it is indeed on the server. Unfortunately, it is not available on the web. I am a PHP beginner and I did not program this site, however, I did upload a page about a year ago and it worked fine.
