My web site has been down all morning and I'm getting NO response after 2 support tickets. The message says:
Site Temporarily Unavailable
We apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact the webmaster/ tech support immediately to have them rectify this.
error id: "bad_httpd_conf"
What can I do?

After much digging around (there goes my morning!), found out that this issue definitely concerned me: http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/2009/10/25/copenhagens-been-chewed-up/
From the wiki: the IP your domain is resolving to on our system points to an Apache web server not configured for your domain
I had to refresh my DNS info. The site isn't working yet though. This is seriously ridiculous that I was informed of this by reading a random post on the blog. My site has been down all morning!

The status post you mention appears to be somewhat more "specific" than it does "random".
Hitting Search up top would have quickly led you to info on how to fix a bad_httpd_conf error
