Subdomain not on Dreamhost

I have a domain fully hosted on Dreamhost. I am looking to add an ASP supported subdomain on to this domain hosted on another provider. Now would I need to do anything with my settings on Dreamhost to accomplish this? Or can I just follow the same procedure I would if I was doing this with Dreamhost as the secondary host as explained on the wik?

I don't know which Wiki article you mention, but all you have to do at this end is Edit your DNS to add an A record consisting of the subdomain name and the IP address of the ASP site.

Did the other provider give you any instructions?

Instead of "Adding a Domain/Subdomain" you would click on the "DNS" button for your domain and either add an A record or CNAME record. If your other provider gives you an IP address you add an A record.
