Arg! Server moved without notice

I just spent 15 minutes trying to figure out why I couldn't SSH into my account anymore only to realize that they had moved my account to a different server without notifying me.

How annoying. Do they do this often?

No, but what was the problem with your SSH connection? Other than the key changing, which generally pops up a warning, SSH should still work pretty well.

Always use yourdomain.com address to initiate a connection, rather than server.dreamhost.com

umm, for me my domain resolves to a different machine than the machine I'm assigned to. This may work for private servers, but can you really ssh into apache2-argon.zack.dreamhost.com (which is what my domain resolves to) when your assigned server is zack.dreamhost.com?

Use yourdomain.com, not a specific machine name.

example:

website is http://somedomain.net

SSH host -> somedomain.net
