I create an HTML newsletter and mail it to about 600 lgitimate subscribers who asked for the email.
I use Mozilla Thunderbird and have tried varius smtp settings. Including mail.katetapley.co.nz hosted at DreamHost
I can only do it in batches of about 80 or 100.
Is there a better way?

You probably want to consider using an announce list.
Announcement List
You are restricted to sending out 100 emails an hour if you do it through usual email methods.

I am doing it. I want to add people without too much email coming their way to verify etc, they have already done that! So I have opted for Mailman, setup as an Announcement list. Unless there is a better way?
