Don't Understand Re-map

Hi, I have read as many posts as I can find, and have even read the Wiki, but it's not written in terms a newbie to this specific task understands.... I'm trying to give a new user permission to update two folders on my already built website.

I have:
created the new user
re-mapped the directories to that user

But I received a 404 error when I went to the site (just the folders I moved), so I moved the folders back to the original user.

I have not really seen a step-by-step on how to do this correctly. The only thing I've seen is:

- Setup the new user.
- Create the directories in the new user's space.
- Remap the domain directories to the new user's directories.

But by the wording of this, I'm uncertain if I'm doing it correctly. And, because it didn't work, I know that I am not.
If someone could give me a better explanation, I would appreciate it so much. btw - I learn well with pictures! :-)

What you did was indeed the correct process, and it did work. The reason you received 404 errors (ie. "Not Found") after remapping is because once you remap those directories you need to copy the original data from the old location into them
