sprword.com has been down for three days

Sprword.com has been down for three days, along with some other sites that I host, and DreamHost has not been able to help me at all. The only thing they have told me is that they do not know how this happened and that they are sorry. They have not responded to my e-mails in over 24 hours now and the sites still remain down...what kind of hosting service allows this kind of thing to happen? Even more so, for three days?

Has anyone else here had these kinds of issues with DreamHost? Please share. This is anything but a dream, it's a foo!

When I get to it, it's empty; just the Index of /

Is there supposed to be something there? Is it hosted on a VPS? When it's down, can you SSH into the server? It's handy to type in 'uptime' at the shell prompt to see what kind of load the server is under.

Support is currently stretched pretty thin due to the current crazy promotion. If it makes you feel any better, dreamhost.com isn't responding for me right now.

It's empty because apparently all ftp/shell users were deleted for some reason and all my sites went down. I did not modify anything recently with the ftp/shell users, but somehow DreamHost deleted them.

No, it does not make me feel better that they haven't responded to you. Like any other business, DreamHost should be taking care of its' customers - not leaving them hanging for over three days.

I am looking to switch hosts and you probably should too.

He said the domain wasn't responding... not that they aren't responding to him.

Your site is up, there just isn't anything there. Regardless of what went wrong (only you or Dreamhost would know), if you simply restore it from a backup, the site would be up.

It sounds like they've already responded that they don't know why your users got deleted. What more do you want? I've never heard of a person's user accounts spontaneously disappearing. If you have an empty directory, as it looks, then that user didn't get deleted.

I have no intentions of switching hosts. I've not had such a problem in the three years I've been here.
