Has anyone successfully installed a Ruby Gem?

I have been trying to install gems and am on the waiting list for a private server. For the time being I want to get a site up on production but everytime I try to install a Gem I get the following message...

“Yikes! One of your processes (gem, pid 22947) was just killed because your processes are, as a whole, consuming too much memory. If you believe you've received this message in error, please contact Support.”

For anyone who may have this issue. I solved it by allotting more memory for the private server while doing the update / install.

At the moment Dreamhost's gem version is 1.1.1 which has a huge memory issue. You will need at least 700 MB alotted to update the gems. Once you update to 2.1.0 you should be alright.

Just remember to move you resources down once complete ;)
