Windows TortoiseSVN

I've set up an SVN repository in my dreamhost account and can use it fine when ssh'd in. I've also tried to connect with an SVN client on a mac and it works fine. When I try to connect via Tortoise on a windows machine, it throws an error when trying to check out the project. Has anyone experienced this and how did you fix it?

Are you using the proper url ?

svn+ssh://host.example.com/repos/project

maybe you need to add your user

svn+ssh://user@host.example.com/repos/project

For the host, I'm just using the host name I use when checking via the browser:

http://mysite.com/repo

Is that not what I enter in Tortoise?

In Mac and Linux do you enter that url?

On FAQ page from tortoise http is used (I only have used svn+ssh)

Is there any way for svn users to change their password in this mode? No. Only through panel.
Is there any way to use https instead of http? Yes, but first you will need a unique IP address and Secure Server installed on your domain.

So I think maybe you have problems with authentification....

The problem seems to be on checkout. I just tried it using the Syncro SVN client and I can browse fine but when I go to check out, I get this error:

Operation failed: cannot create new file
C:\Users\paul\myproject\.svn\tmp\text-base\c:\temp\debuglog.txt.svn-base

Hmm. Seems like a bit of a configuration error here.

I use TortoiseSVN from Windows but like vicm3 I access Subversion using the svn+ssh protocol rather than http.

Do you have any information on the error that TortoiseSVN threw more than "an error"? It might help narrow down the plethora of errors that can be generated by TortoiseSVN.

In TortoiseSVN, I do a checkout, it asks for my username/password and then starts to transfer data, when it gets to 32 kb, it dies with the error:

Error Report request failed on '/1/!svn/vcc/default'
Error Report of '/1/!svn/vcc/default': 400 Bad Request (http://mysite.com)

My repos is at http://mysite.com/1

What's vcc as that's not in my project anywhere.

It would help me understand what you're doing if you would tell me how you're issuing the checkout command. Is this from a menu option in your Windows Explorer? If so, what are you using for the url of the repository and the checkout directory? Do you have any of the other checkboxes selected?

Finally, is there anything special about the location you're checking out to? Is there anything in that directory?

Yes,

I'm doing the checkout by simply using the commands via Tortoise and windows explorer. For the URL, I'm simply using my site url :

http://yooroc.com/1/

and I'm simply picking the directory to check out to by using windows explorer as well.
