Jabber (XMPP) Setup problems?

Using the jabber server provided by my Dreamhost account (for discussion purposes, exampleuser@mysite.com) and when trying to send an IM to a user at a different site using Google Apps (exampleuser@theothersite.com) I get this response:
Server Connect Failed (Code 502)
I'd like to determine if the problem is on my end at Dreamhost or if it lies with the configuration of the other server with Google Talk.
I've included some information that may be useful, but I don't know what to glean from it or a process to begin testing this. Any other information that is useful I can provide as necessary. Thanks.
