SMF supports APC and eAccelerator.
Traffic on my board is high, and I need a caching system, but I'm a total newbie.

heh, I'm actually setting up a website to do exactly that: Install a custom copy of php4/5 with eAccelerator and such.

It's easy really. There is a small gotcha in installing APC, but the rest is a piece of cake. My sites have been running with APC for a while now.
