gem/library dependency

Hello,
I got my rails app all set up but when I tryto use the login_generator gem I always receive the error:
no such file to load -- login_system
The code (controllers/application.rb) has a line that reads:
require_dependency "login_system"
I've found the .gem in the correct directory (/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/cache/). Is there someway to set the directory ruby looks for? Any help is appreciated.
