well there bob, how about this:
if its' that easy, I will gladly pay you the outrageous sum of one dollar per minute for your massive coding skills.
just whip it together (something on the lines of www.velocityart.com or dezina.com), upload it, I will gladly beta it, and when we are sure it works I will send you 21 bucks?
sound good?

now, if there are any usable suggestions, I would just looooove to hear them.
especially if you can explain this:

Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /home/.eccentric/yama/lisa-ray.net/current/parser/parser.php on line 8

Warning: Failed opening 'include/default.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/.eccentric/yama/lisa-ray.net/current/parser/parser.php on line 8

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: defaults in /home/.eccentric/yama/lisa-ray.net/current/parser/parser.php on line 9

Ken,

Actually, $1 per minute isn't all that generous, and 21 minutes didn't give me time to be creative, but I decided to take you up on your offer.

I'm kinda' surprised you didn't take dezina.com up on their deal: "Dezina WEB HOSTING Now available from ONLY $30 US dollars per year. PHPNuke installed FREE, if required" but since you are trying to save a few bucks, I installed php-nuke like they use, for you to try out.

So, anyway here's the test site for you to try. I'm a little tired now after my intense "coding" effort, so I haven't tested it much myself. It's pretty much default setup, so don't expect any custom work. Please go easy on it, and don't use too many of my conueries.

Do you prefer paypal, plastic, or cash?

Cheers,

Bob S.

All,

Regarding the dezina.com comment above - that was merely a quick copy/paste and was NOT an endorsement. I'm not saying anything bad about them. All I'm saying is I've known of another $30/year host, but I'm still here at DH because of the features, emphasis on continuous improvement, the kbase (which helped a hobbyist "coder" get MySQL/phpnuke going for the first time in only a few hours), this forum, all the "happy" people, etc.

The preceding was NOT a paid announcement (but maybe it should be, Jeff?!)

Cheers,

Bob S.

well, there ard, I am just so impressed...really I am.
but 1.8 megs is way out of the question.
again, I would rather have an answer as to why I got:

Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /home/.eccentric/yama/lisa-ray.net/current/parser/parser.php on line 8

Warning: Failed opening 'include/default.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/.eccentric/yama/lisa-ray.net/current/parser/parser.php on line 8

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: defaults in /home/.eccentric/yama/lisa-ray.net/current/parser/parser.php on line 9

in the 300k file than a smudge on the face wiht a 2 meg program.

seriously, tho, if you seemed just a bit nicer, I probably would just damn well hire you, but man, you seem to have a mean edge on you that a Dremmel wouldn't smooth, and I wouldn't touch you with a ten foot pole...

I hope you're nicer to the peopel you meet in real life.

Ken,

I'm really not here to exchange insults, so I'm going to assume your compliments are sincere, let your insults slide, and keep it family-friendly. The record here is clear enough. I'm takin' a chill pill. You want half? ;>

Now, you made me a public offer. We agree I did what you specified in your offer. Why don't you show us what a stand-up guy you are, and send me the 21 bucks like you said?

Regards,

Bob S.

Sorry Bob,
my offer has been mooted by the Dreamhost Support staff.

I guess I will have to be a sit down guy.
no 21 bucks...sorry.

In answer to my own question, shoudl anyone ever wnat to know...it takes a while for the database names to propagate...

time the great healer.

(you do seem much nicer now bob...are those chill pills Wellbutrin by any chance? - sincerely tho...the challenge was inspirational, I thank you for that)

yknow, bob, any adult would know that was sarcasm up there. it's interesting "chatting" with you, BUT, your attempts to bully a little girl because of my comments in here are Beneath Contempt.

Sending threatening e-mail to a little girl you dont' even know is low, oh so very very low. Is that how they teach you to behave towards women down thar in Tennessee?

Would 21 dollars double your yearly income or something? Need it to get the dog out of jail? New tire for the state capital building? Or just never seen that much money in one place?

Take the other half of that chill pill. Seriously.

People should also realize your use of the words interesting, bully, little girl, comments, threatening, etc., should also be quoted like chatting (i.e. not very accurate).

It seems that 21 dollars does all the same for you?

Why don't you take a truth pill? The chill pills don't seem to be working for you.

Closing this thread. I'd appreciate it if people kept this kind of stuff limited to email.
