Hi,
My site is a simple, one-page HTML/CSS that uses mootools (smooth gallery and slide fx), but is not working at all in DreamHost. I developed my site on my local server and it worked properly. However, when I transfered my local files to DH, the site looked fine minus the mootools effects (no gallery and no sliding fx). I don't even know where to begin to troubleshoot. Please help. Thank you in advance!

Double check that your .js (or other imports) are in the correct location relative to the page.

All my javascript files are in the js directory and is relative to the page. I test my site locally before uploading to dh. Do I need to create a mySQL database even though I don't use or need it on my website?

If I recall correctly, mootools uses mostly (entirely?) JavaScript in order to function - so the user's browser itself does all the trickery and it should function independently of any web server settings.
Could you post a link to a test page?
