IRC Logger

I am interested in writing a custom IRC logger to a database, hopefully in java.

*what type of account do I need?

*can I have the server check if the application is not running and start it?
**start automatically after a server reset?

You would need a Private Server, I guess.

This is regardless of whether or not you use DreamHost PS (virtual private server).

You will need to look into a dedicated or co-location hosting company that allows IRC-related programs.
