$80 DreamHost gift certificate?

I was given this by DH via e-mail... simply for hosting with them for one year, according to the e-mail! That is amazing! If you were on the L1 plan (monthly payment) and chose to put all of it towards your hosting bill, it would effectively mean that you got the next year of hosting for $40.

Has anyone else received one of these? Was it an accidental glitch? I still don't really believe it... :-O

These gift certificates are given ACCORDING to your existing plans. In order to get $80, you probably are on an L3 or L4 plan, and therefore won't be renewing an L1.

Damnit. Someone must have messed up then... I have a single L1 account. And I've already used some of it (on domain names). What should I do?

Well, if you ask me, it's the company's fault, not yours. You shouldn't be liable for any money spent on it.

If they gave you 80 bucks, they gave you 80 bucks. They won't try and go back on it, Dremahost is way better than that. Enjoy your little perk.

Yeah, but I'd feel bad taking an L3 or L4 reward as an L1 customer. It's a bit different than, say, not telling your megacorp ISP that they're under-charging you; DreamHost rules.

The amount of a rebate depends (in many cases), on if you paid yearly, or montly.

Monthly rebates are often much less. I have an $80 rebate, that's 80 across the board, but $45 when paying for an L1 plan monthly. (only because I can't put it higher there I don't think).

Thats the logistics anyway.

Hmm. I was paying monthly, but had recently used the 'make a payment' option to add a year's worth to my balance. So maybe the system thought I was paying yearly, lol

Support says it was legitimate (randomly generated).

(Also, this was my first time using DH support and they got back to me in under 12 hours... for quite a trivial thing, all things considered. Bad support? I think not.)

Been with them with my current account since 1998. I've received $54 in total credit. Most of that has been with an L3 plan.

I recently redeemed a $15 one a few weeks ago. I just now noticed it was there, but it was dated 2003. I had no idea it was there and never received an email about it... I just happened to be clicking through the panel and stumbled upon it.
