...Linux?
...Coffee?
...Red Bull?

(BTW, DH guys, did you notice that there's a crate of Red Bull hidden behind that second server cabinet?)

Linux, and they probably has a bunch of FreeBSD boxes there too.

Find "Red Bull" replace "Bawls" :D

No FreeBSD to speak of. We use OpenBSD on a few security-sensitive boxes, but we mostly prefer Linux.

And those energy drinks will kill you. A bunch of people drink yerba mate, which also looks cool in the crazy little gourds. Even though it tastes kind of gross.

You can't beat the taste of Red Bull.

Our website's powered by Red Bull.

Though it will kill you.

Ergo, we give our website our lives.

No coffee drinkers at DH?

That's what powers most companies.

But dot-bombs were cool and did energy drinks instead.

What's this I hear about the Demise of Debian?

OpenBSD for the firewall ... slow as a server though.

Compared to Linux or FreeBSD anyway.

While some of the hipsters here at DreamHost will likely scoff, I've been known to drop by Starbucks once in a while. Say what you will about deforestation, killing the corner coffee house, whatever... I'm a native Washingtonian. The Powers That Be in my home state have made it clear that you have to support at least one of our monopolistic behemoths, and I sure as heck wasn't going to throw my support behind the other one.

But... Yeah, I haven't seen much coffee here. I know that I personally have a long history of drinking Pepsi and Dr. Pepper, though I've mostly cut back and drink a lot more water than I used to.

Have you tried the lemon-lime-cherry-vanilla-classic-lowcarb-diet-Dr. Pepper?

I have to hand it to those Dr. Pepper guys... they've sure know how to make fun of their drink. And it actually isn't half bad if you hit the right mood. It worked wonders when we were driving down I-5 towards Los Angeles. Made the trip a bit surreal, mind you, but, see, it kinda worked that way.

Water's the best though. Can't argue with that.

In keeping my "I'm so old" jag, when I was a kid, Dr. Pepper was a regional drink. It's one of those old fashioned tonics that was supposed to keep you regular, it's, essentially, carbonated prune juice. Then, they went national with those 60s psychedelic "Dr. Pepper, so misunderstood!" ads, and that fun approach to their product continues to this day.
Mmmm... carbonated prune juice...

Yummy :)

Lately I've gotten to drinking ginger ale quite a bit. I have a feeling that I'm not getting the full ginger ale experience, though: a friend of mine who lived in Japan for a couple of years told me that they had the best ginger ale he had ever tasted, far better than any western concotion. So I'm left staring dubiously at the soapstone mug full of ginger ale in front of me, wondering whether it's giving me all its got.

Say, have you seen Coffeegeek.com?

I've had ginger beer before that was really strong and made my brain feel fuzzy.

I love anything ginger, the more ginger the better! I haven't had this amazing Japanese ginger ale, but my favorite brands around these parts are Reed's Jamaican Ginger Brew and Vernor's. Canada Dry and Schweppes and all the other easy to find brands don't have nearly enough ginger, but I still drink them when nothing else is available.

I jumped in on this late, sorry!
