Server Types

What is the difference between a dedicated server, a managed dedicated server and a colocated server?

In simplistic terms, which server is already set up like dreamhost where all the software, stats package, mail scripts are already installed? In effect, is there a Code Warrior type set up on a dedicated server where one does not have to worry about fixing stuff with lots more room and speed.

Arrrgh... what would you call a Code Warrior package on steroids -- gigs of space, more bandwidth, you can bug other people when there's a problem...

That was painful....

We don't really do colocation at all; that basically means that you're sticking your box in our rack, and we don't do anything at all for you without charging you.

We do offer unmanaged dedicated servers. With this, you don't get our backend stuff - we provide the OS and the box; you install and configure the software you want.

A managed machine sounds like what you want - this is like a regular DH plan on steroids (you can add however much stuff your machine can handle), and you can bug people when there's a problem.
