Tech support going against TOS?

Hi all, I am just curious, has anyone ever encountered a situation where a webhost's tech support team changes files and folders on a customer's website without asking for permission first? Is it against a webhost's TOS?

Not sure what you're talking about, but you can probably be pretty sure that if support modifies anything, it's likely because:

- The customer was breaking the TOS.

- Something was going wrong and causing a load problem.

Otherwise, it's not like they'd just be changing stuff because they're bored.

What exactly was done?

As far as a host breaking their own TOS goes, it's not really something that could happen since a TOS is there to cover their butts and will always have a clause that says they can change what they want, when they want.

well, tech support at the current hosting service I am trying out for another site of mine modified a configuration php file from gallery2 and added subdomains without my permission when I requested them to add records to the nameservers (because www is accessible, but other subdomains which I added were not). Also, its a pretty low-traffic site as well, and no TOS violations (porn, warez, etc).
