Hi;

Are these the correct instructions?

Thanks

Actually, Atacama has made an installation guide specifically for DreamHost, so check it out at:

When I attempt step 5: Connect to your DreamHost server using ssh.

I try and connect to justinwjones.com (my site) and when my password is accepted (the same password I use for FTP) PuTTY closes suddenly.

Odd that your PuTTY just closes. Can you check some logs on your computer to see why? Have you tried a different telnet program? From a different computer/network? Obviously this is not related to Gallery or the instructions :-)

You have to enable shell access - Users -> Users from the web panel.

I don't think this tutorial applies to the latest version (1.4.4) I just tried installing that with the instructions you listed and I was not able to continue without first solving the exec() issue.

If anyone else know how to get this working, it would be much appreciated.

I've not tried 1.4.4, yet. I'll get to it as soon as I can and update my notes once I get it to work.

run it as php-cgi.

Either set it that way through the panel (the new way) or add: "AddType php-cgi .php" to the htaccess file.

The new version is actually easier to install than wombatnation's instructions (less errors, overwriting of htaccess), but the instructions are still accurate enough to help guide you through it.
