Anyone using OSCommerce?

Anyone using OSCommerce?

Hey peoples,

Just wondering if anyone else was using OSCommerce. We are currently using OSCommerce MS2 at our site, www.easycookin.com. So far it has been working pretty well. It uses a MySQL database, and thus far we have just gone over our alotted 10M database conueries. Looks like we will have about 11M conueries by the time the billing period is over.

Not too bad, just wondering if anyone else was using OSC, and if so, how many conueries they were seeing a month - or if there is a good or simple way to eliminate some of the conueries.

Scott

I don't know anything about the software in question, but just a though... it's been discussed on the forum front, so have you tried using persistant connections to the mysql db? i don't know if this would be a setting in some admin area or a hard coded edit to a file... this could considerably cut the conueries.

sorry for being slightly off topic.

Miva not so useful for small shop, right?

I have reviewed most of the messages here. it seems that, unless you are a real havy duty mercant, the free MIVA
account with the Code Monster is not that useful since you have to pay enormous fees to check processing places.

I have seen pro and con with Pay Pal and Click2. In fact, I use Pay pal for donations for my non-profit NGO sit (I get very few, but...).

I was wondering about things like Mals, recommend by a user in June or so.....It seems good, but doesn't that leave you STILL haveing to go through one of those credit card processing companies, meaning it is not cheaper than MIVA?

Is anyone using it? how much do you pay over and above the free software or 6 dollar a month professional version? And what if you do NOT use the professional version? How does one deal witrh
credit card data if they DON't have such an account?

Since I am not U.S. based, I cannot apply for any official non-profit status, though I have access to a US address via a relative, but anyway, wondering what the best option is for those of us who just want to sell a few baseball caps and what not to raise funds.

Also, to use MIVA we need to use a certificate, included free with Cose Monster, it seems.
Do these other sevrices like Mals require it and can we use the one that comes with Code Monster?

Thanks
