Anybody using osCommerce? I just found out about it from a Dreamhost announcement a few days ago and thought it was cool that I could do this 1 click install - so I did it, but I am having issues with setup of the cart itself. Just wanted to see if there was any user support here for the cart since osCommerce's user to user support is lacking pretty bad. Thanks!

I thought DH was offering MIVA. I didn't know about oscommerce. Anyway, I am using Zen Cart which is an offchute of oscommerce. I could probably help with general questions. Send me a private message.

DreamHost is offering OSCommerce as a one-click installation.

Yea... one click baybee =) Thats what I'm talking about. Seems like a cool cart, but some of the documentation is lacking and the user to user forums on the osCommerce site isnt really great either - thats why I was looking for anybody here using it.

I installed the oscommerce from the one-click button and liked it. However on doing more research on customising oscommerce for a upcoming project I came across

zen-cart.com

Which is a branch of oscommerce at some point in the past, and I have to say that the out of the box install of zen-cart was superior for my needs.

I am finding it easier to customise, and there are more features in the basic install which are optional modules for oscommerce.

Adding optional modules is fine for oscommerce until there is an update to the main core that causes problems with the modifications you have made.

I am by no means an expert on oscommerce or zen-cart, but from what I have seen thus far IMHO opinion zen-cart is a better product.

I have also found the support forums for zen-cart more "friendly" than oscommerce.

* Usual disclaimers about its personal preference etc.

Well - what I liked about osCommerce is the "one click install" that Dreamhost provides. With this zen-cart.com is it:

a) Free and
b) Easy to setup?

Do I have to know a lot of server side crap to install the thing? Thanks Chris C
