You can attach dedicated IPs to your domains when you upgrade to a hosting plan.

But since DreamHost Apps is on a different server, *can* you assign your Apps install a dedicated IP address? Of course you can just One-Click Advanced (or manually) install it in your home directory and that can have a dedicated IP address.

I'd think if a web master is in a position to require a dedicated IP then the wise choice would definitely be to have their own installation, exactly as you've suggested.

I believe it would be entirely possible for Support to attach a dedicated IP to a DreamHostApps hosted domain. The domains are basically user account space on a server somewhere just like our fully-hosted ones. It's true they share a core, but each domain must at some stage have a landing directory to which an IP inevitably points. I doubt they'd jump at offering an 'add-on' of this magnitude directly to Apps customers - although I'm working under the assumption here that Apps is a customer stepping stone into the fully-hosted arena, as opposed to being a free hosting solution with little weight given to it's client-building potential.

Due to the way it's set up, DreamHost Apps doesn't support adding unique IPs. You'll need to fully host your domain for that.

(I will add that using DreamHost Apps for SEO purposes is strictly forbidden.)
