I'd like to backup my drupal site, but (except the success message) nothing happens and nothing is mailed to me.

This isn't DreamHost's official staff support area. It's for customers. You'd have to submit a Support Request through the panel if you want to hear back from them.

I'm using the free hosting so there's no panel for me!
Just wanted to make sure the service is fine before purchase and now I'm really glad that I know dreamhost is the worst host ever (without spending a dime)!

It sure seems like Apps is the neglected stepchild. There is no avenue for support, they're slow to update, and there's no avenue for support. Did I mention the lack of a support channel?
