Wordpress Slider

I installed the Suspension theme (http://topwpthemes.com/suspension/) to a blog, but the Slider function will not work. For some reason, the images will not display. The blog is running WP 2.8.2, but it seems that this theme has not been updated for the latest WP installations. The creator has not responded to messages, and the WP.org forums have no help, so does anybody here have a clue about how to fix this?
