Information on changing hosts

I used Dreamhost Apps with a pre-existing domain registration (done in Google Apps). I never received any information on what to do at GoDaddy (Google's registrar) to make the change, so I get 404s for all my Dreamhost App URLs. What do I need to know?

You need to point your nameservers to

ns1.dreamhost.com
ns2.dreamhost.com
ns3.dreamhost.com

assuming that it's the same as full hosting (and it probably is). Are you *sure* their wasn't some sort of welcome email, or something in the panel that doesn't say this?

Nope, that info isn't included in the message and should have been. I noticed the same thing when I helped a friend set this up. I only knew that because I have full hosting.

Here is a link to a screen shot of the DreamHost Apps panel where it *does* tell yall...

As far as I could tell, that didn't show up when my friend did that from the original setup page rather than the add a domain link. So maybe those two are different.

The other possibility is that I missed it when I was looking over her shoulder. :)

In any case, it is something that should be sent in the email, because relying on the user to remember what was on a web page is a bad idea. I know it wasn't in the email because I checked those.

I definitely think it should be in some sort of setup email. I have no idea if *any* kind of email gets sent, but I would suggest that the very first "welcome" email should say something to the effect of:

"You should probably go ahead and point any domains that you plan to use with your DreamHost Apps account to DreamHost at your registrar using the following name servers" or some such. Then it could just be copied / pasted right from the mail.
