R statistical software, is it possible to install?

Hi,

I'd like to know if it is possible to install R statistical software (for more info see http://r-project.org), in order to use its statistical functions, eventually through rsruby (ruby bindings for R).

R is in debian's repository package r-base.

Thanks

Probly. Try Debian binary or compile your own, or ask support if they'd kindly run apt-get install r-base.

Being an Ubunt user, I really like the fact that dreamhost is debian based.

I never had an hosting service (I run my own server in the garage), are you allowed to use apt-get via ssh? If that's the case, then dreamhost is much more interesting for me

Ok, I'm bumping this... I'm also interested in installing R, so I wonder if there are anyone out here that's already tried it? I would also like to be able to use PHP to talk to R, anyone tried that???
