This forum Sucks - here is how you can change that

This is the the ugliest and hardest to read forum I have ever been on! But I have a solution.

I worked with the CSS of this forum and got it to a point where it doesn't look horrible.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, swap the current style sheet with this one! I want to use this site - and I can't with the current colors/style.

Some of us like the forum just as it is. You can always apply custom CSS styles with this Firefox extension.

Yes, I suppose that is true - my title is a little hasty ;)

However, I am a graphic designer and I have studied typography a lot. I find this forum VERY hard to read with #000 text on #AAA backgrounds. Plus, the font sizes are all over the place! I am young with 20-20 vision and I am having a hard time - so I can only imagine that the older people must have to read very, very slowly...

If you try my style sheet you will see that it is a big improvement. However, lots more should be done I just can't edit the template files ;)

The CSS I made fixed the white space settings and adjusts the readability of the text.

I don't have time to care about the CSS, since I'm too busy not liking the forum because "reply" doesn't automatically quote the post you're replying to. tongue

It can get messy when someone doesn't quote something because it looks obvious in threaded view... which is why I read it in threaded view.

Otherwise, I'd prefer flat view with relevant quotes, or at least posts that make sense based on where they fall in order.

When it comes to text, I'm all for black on white, but as long as the text is the darker of the two, it usually doesn't bother me.

In any case, if I show up one day and see vBulletin, I won't complain. wink

I'm pretty sure I even put that in as a suggestion before.

Seams like I recall a thread awhile back about switching forum software. Does anybody know the official response as to why this software is prefered?

I vote for vanilla or punBB - I don't care about the extra features of vB or phpBB.
