Hosting files

Hello there. I am interested in hosting some files of a couple of hundred mbs on my account. Since webftp can't manage this size, how can I do it?

Use SFTP or regular FTP.

by using a 'real' FTP program on your computer. Filezilla is a free program that works well for Windows computers. SmartFTP is also commonly used.

For mac I' believe there's a program called Fetch, but I have no experience with it.

There's a helpful wiki article on the subject. It includes a much larger list of applications you can use and some basic instructions on setting them up.

If you are using Internet Explorer, a 'quick and dirty' method is to simply browse to ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com, log-in, browse to the relevant directory, then drag and drop the file(s) directly into the browser window.

If I recall correctly, not all browsers support writing to FTP, but it works in Internet Explorer.

Note: Overall, it is still a good idea to use a 'real' FTP client.

I can confirm that IE works in this way, I've used it once when I was in a bind and not at my own PC where I use FlashFXP for FTP duties.
